Public hearing set to address future expansion of County T in Eau Claire and Chippewa
Counties

Eau Claire County, in partnership with Chippewa County, city of Eau Claire, towns of Union and
Wheaton, and Wisconsin Department of Transportation, is holding a public hearing to discuss
the location, design and environmental aspects of proposed improvements on County T.

The public hearing is planned for Wednesday, June 24, at The Crescent at the Eau Claire
Events District 5775 20th Ave. Eau Claire, WI 54703. The public hearing will be conducted from 5-
7 p.m. Interested persons may attend starting at 5 p.m. to review displays and other hearing
materials, ask questions and provide testimony.

The traditional-style portion of the public hearing will begin at 5:30 p.m. and will end at 7 p.m. or
when all interested persons have provided testimony, whichever occurs last. The traditional-
style portion of the public hearing will begin with a presentation prior to accepting traditional-
style testimony from the public.

The proposed improvements would include:
 Expanding County T from two lanes to four lanes, separated by a raised median
o Phase 1: 17 th Avenue to 33 rd Avenue (proposed construction year 2027-2028)
o Phase 2: Alpine Road to 17 th Avenue (proposed construction year 2030-2031)
 Constructing roundabouts at 10 th Avenue, 20 th Avenue, and 30 th Avenue
 Improving and/or reconfiguring other intersections
 Constructing pedestrian and bicycle facilities
 Modifying driveway access (right-in, right-out access only)
 Constructing a box culvert under 30 th Avenue

Improvements could result in potential relocation of properties, permanent right-of-way
acquisition of 57 acres, temporary limited easements involving 3.2 acres, and impacts to 0.18
acres of wetlands.

The public is encouraged to attend the public hearing to learn more about the proposed
improvements and provide input. Project maps and other information will be on display and
project staff will be available to explain the proposed improvements and answer questions.
Information on how to present verbal and written testimony will be provided at the public
hearing.

The meeting facility is wheelchair accessible. Deaf or hard of hearing persons needing
assistance may contact the project manager, Scott Whitsett, via the Wisconsin

Telecommunication Relay System (dial 711). To allow time for arranging assistance, please call
no later than three working days prior to the hearing.

To allow time to arrange assistance for any persons with Limited English Proficiency (LEP),
please contact the project manager, Scott Whitsett, no later than ten (10) working days prior
to the public hearing.

Provisions have been made for the public to submit written statements or other exhibits in place
of, or in addition to, the testimony presented at the public hearing. This additional testimony can
be submitted via phone, email, or US Mail and will be included in the hearing record if
postmarked/received no later than Friday, July 10. Submit any additional testimony to project
